Volunteer Opportunities
The
Parents' Association has many fundraising events
throughout the year that cannot happen without parent involvement.
Bement has a longstanding tradition of teaching its students
how to give back to the community. As parents, we set the
example through giving of our time, talent, and expertise
at our school.
How can you help?
We are eager to get all committee's established early on,
so please sign up today. Let's all work together. Thanks!
What Am I Signing Up For? (Volunteer
Responsibilities)
(PS - You can just show up to volunteer too, all welcome
:)
All-School Picnic - Family style school picnic with fun had
by all. Held at the beginning of the year, the picnic gives
new parents a chance to meet returning parents and the rest
of the Bement community. Helpers will be setting up and taking
down some tables and chairs outdoors at the school. Everyone
who comes brings a tasty food item for the picnic. Bring an
appetite.
Bake Sales - Held throughout the year at various events.
Volunteers who sign up are needed to work and assist with sales. Flyers will be sent out before
events to let all the Bement parents prepare their baked goodies.
We hope everyone will contribute baked goods.
Bazaar and Fall Festival - Bring on the fall festivities.
This fall fundraiser features quality items at tag sale prices,
and more. Baked goods, pumpkins and cornstalks. Clean out
your attics, basements and closets. Helpers can assist with
the tagging and arranging of the items and get a sneak preview
of the items for sale.
Bement Cook Book - You will work with the two chairpersons
and help to put together a cook book created by all the Bement
Family. You get to see the secret recipes first.
Bement School Store - Great school logo cloths and accessories.
Kids love the items and this is a very exciting and rewarding
place to volunteer. The store also offers the opportunity
to exchange blazers at a very reasonable price at the start
of the year. Helpers can assist with the sales of items with
lots of flexible shifts. Many helpers make for light work
here.
Boarder Guests - We ask Bement families to welcome a boarding
student into their home for visits. This is especially needed
on the long weekends throughout the year. They need to have
a family for them to stay with at that time. Everyone wins
... new friends, new cultures to be discovered by all.
Book Sales - On campus book sales are scheduled throughout
the year for students (and parents) to expand their personal
libraries while supporting the school library. Helpers are needed
in setting up/taking down the book displays and help with
the cash sales of the books too. This is all done on a rotational
schedule. We will starting a new type of book fair after the
winter holidays in the new year also.
Faculty Appreciation Tea - A fun tea held at the end of the
year to THANK our incredible faculty and staff for all the
incredible work they give of themselves.
May Baskets - May baskets with flowers and candy (from Richardson's)
will welcome spring. Helpers with help with creating the baskets
and help with the "parents pick-up" of the orders.
Skating/Basketball Party - Free fun for all sponsored by
the Parents' Association. This mid-winter (January) event
warms everyone up. Soup, sandwiches and drinks for all. Helpers
will help to set up/take down the food tables. Also help (shifts)
with the serving of the food. Great family event.
Spring Fling Dinner Auction - Friday evening event for the
big people of Bement. Help is needed with the set up of the
auction items and set up of the theme related decorations
of the tent. Much of the help is needed before the event.
Spring Fling Saturday Fair - Kids Fair Fun! Great school
spirit event. Helpers help with arranging the prize table,
selling of the games/food tickets and supervising the events
table and sports/game event. You may even get to talk in a
megaphone. Fun had by big and small.
Welcome The New Family - This program welcomes new students
and their families to Bement by having current Bement families
touch base with them and ease the transition to a new school.
