PARENTS' ASSOCIATION EVENTS
All-School Picnic
- Family style school picnic with fun had by all. Held at
the beginning of the year, the picnic gives new parents a
chance to meet returning parents and the rest of the Bement
community. Everyone who comes brings a tasty food item for
the picnic. Bring an appetite.
Bake Sales
– Volunteers who signed up are needed to work behind the
baked goods table and assist with sales throughout the year,
and various events. Flyers will be sent out before events
to let all the parents prepare their baked goods -
everything from a brownie/cookies to a cake. YUM!
Bazaar and Fall
Festival
- Bring on the fall festivities. This fall fundraiser
features quality items at tag sale prices, and more. Clean
out your attics, basements and closets. Helpers can assist
with the tagging and arranging of the items and get a sneak
preview of the items for sale.
Bement School
Store
- Kids love the items and this is a very exciting and
rewarding place to volunteer. Helpers can assist with the
sales of items. The School Store is open several times
during each month with lots of flexible shifts throughout
the day. Many helpers make for light work here.
Boarder Guest
Buddies
– We ask Bement families to welcome a boarding student into
their home for visits. This is done on a one to one basis
and happens on weekends/holidays. The get together can be
for dinner, an afternoon together, an evening get together
or even a weekend get together.
Book Sales
- On campus book sales are scheduled throughout the year for
students (and parents) to expand their personal libraries
while supporting the school library. Helpers are needed for
assisting with the cash sales of books, setting up and
taking down the book displays.
Faculty
Appreciation Lunch
– a fun tea held
at the end of the year to THANK our hard-working faculty and
staff for all the incredible work they give of themselves.
Just come and show your appreciation.
Food bank
collection – During
the holiday season, we will be collecting donations of
nonperishable food. Volunteers are needed to bag and box
the donations as well as make deliveries to the food bank.
Library support –
If you
have some time on your hands, the Bement library is a great
place to be. Rich Winnick, the librarian, and his
assistant, Xiaomo Hong, are looking for folks interested in
volunteering in the library on a regular basis. Tasks
include assisting at the circulation desk (check in/check
out books), re-shelving books and book processing
Parents' Day
- This fall school tradition is a day bringing together
boarding and day parents to meet and mingle. The format of
the day includes class visits, upper and lower school
meetings and the Parents' Association introductions and much
more.
Skating/Basketball Party
- Free fun for all sponsored by the Parents' Association.
This mid-winter (January) event warms everyone up. Soup,
sandwiches and drinks for all. Spring Fling Dinner Auction -
Food, bidding and fun (big people only). Spring Fling
Saturday Fair - Kids Fair Fun! Great school spirit event.
Spring Fling
Dinner Auction
- Friday evening event for the big people of Bement. Help is
needed with the set up of the auction items and set up of
the theme related decorations of the tent. Much of the help
is needed before the event.
Spring Fling
Saturday Fair
- Kids Fair Fun! Great school spirit event. Helpers help
with arranging the prize table, selling of the games/food
tickets and supervising the events table and sports/game
event. You may even get to talk in a megaphone. Fun had by
big and small.
Welcome The New
Family
- This program welcomes new students and their families to
Bement by pairing them with current Bement families. Host
families touch base with a phone call or get together before
school starts to answer questions and help everyone feel
part of the Bement community.
